R Tronic
The R tronic sequential gearbox makes its very first appearance in the Audi R8. Managed without a clutch pedal, the sequential gearbox delivers superior road performance and faster gear shifts. As well as using the automatic mode, gears can be changed via a gearshift specially developed for the Audi R8 and mounted on the centre console or by means of shift paddles on the steering wheel, as is customary in motor racing.
Steering
The steering has the precise initial response that matches the requirements of the Audi R8. Despite the long wheelbase, the turning circle has been reduced to an impressive 11.40 metres, ensuring absolute precision driving.
Audi Magnetic Ride
Audi can supply the Audi R8 with an optional adaptive damping system, where a magneto-rheological fluid is used instead of conventional shock-absorbing oil. The viscosity of the magneto-rheological fluid changes under the influence of electromagnets, so the higher the voltage applied, the greater the resistance and the sportier the settings.
